Plans for My P38

My 97 P38 is just a joy to drive. A huge difference from my previous 87 Range Rover Classic. I'm hoping to learn from work I did for the mods I made to my 87 to do better, cleaner mods to the 97.

My first mod was to replace the air bags and convert to coil springs. I didnt' have the car but two weeks when one of the front air bags leaked, sending the car into default mode. This is all the way down on the bump stops. YUCK!

In the process of replacing the air bags with coils, the car ended up with a 3" lift. This has been fantastic for off-roading-- while I haven't done REALLY gnarly runs, the ones I have done were done clean-- no dragging the tail, nosing in the air dam, or high-centering.

But lifting 3" is just the beginning. Doing so forces me to install longer brake lines, longer ABS sensor wires, and longer shocks. I did have custom brake lines made, and found that the ABS wires might work, they just need to be unhooked from their mounts to the frame.

So far, I haven't replaced the shocks. I just put in a 4" extension in the meantime.

More later.
